Review: Bari Aapa Episode 4

Posted on Saturday, September 22nd, 2012 at 10:49 pm and filed under Drama Reviews .
Finally I get to review Bari Aapa, my most favourite drama on air right. Yes, I know the vote of the majority would be in favour of Shehr-e-Zaat but what to do I like simple stories better. They are somehow more relatable.   So what happens in this episode. A lot to be precise. Sharmeen forces Adeel to refuse her proposal. Adeel does it and Bari Aapa is heart broken. She simply couldn’t take the fact that she’s refused by someone that too by Ghazanfar whom she trusts more than her husband and listens to also. This refusal breaks the stern exterior holder Zubaida (Bari Aapa) who doesn’t want to meet or see anyone even her family. As Adeel gives Firdous the impression that he refused because of her reluctance to get her son married to Bari Aapa’s daughter, she goes on flaunting this decision as hers.   The two sisters are estranged, their brother Shakeel and Ghazanfar try to get the differences between the two sisters sorted out but end up with even more confrontation between them. Zubaida cannot take this and gets unwell. Sharmeen feels very guilty about it, expresses the same to Eesa who comforts her and tells her it’s nothing of her doing. She even becomes willing to marry Adeel but her father Farman advises her against it as he feels that even this move would not stop the sisterly bond to turn more sour.   We saw very little of Ayesha Khan in this episode. Infact, I was missing her and thought we wouldn’t see her in this particular episode. Thankfully, she appeared at the end of the episode and expressed her helplessness at having to live with her relatives as she’s got no male with her now. Going by the promos we can expect that Ayesha Khan and Nauman Ejaz will get married (sorry for the spoiler people).   We also learnt that Ghazanfar and Zubaida (Bari Aapa) were in love in young age and Ghazanfar ditched her due to family pressures. Sharmeen’s love for her mother comes out nicely as she starts blaming herself for what’s happening to Bari Aapa and feels guilty. The dejected look in Savera Nadeem’s eyes immediately in the scene where she’s standing near the window left me awestruck. Same for the helpless look in Ayesha’s eyes in her only scene in the episode. Thumbs up Ayesha and Savera, you convey so much through your eyes.   Hopefully, we will get to see more of Ayesha during the coming episodes. Else God save the makers from the wrath of hardcore Ayesha fans. This is one serial where the scenes are long yet they don’t feel dragged. Although, you have a feeling that some of the dialogues are being repeated, yet you don’t get bored or feel like complaining.   Savera Nadeem’s act as Bari Aapa and the relationship between the stern Zubaida and carefree Firdous pretty much makes up for every small hitch in the way including Adeel’s limitations as an actor (sorry folks I am not impressed with Mustafa Changezi’s acting in this play so far). Lastly, the comparisons between Bari Aapa and Bilqees Kaur should end now for Bilqees Kaur was a helpless woman hiding behind a tough exterior while Bari Aapa is anything but helpless. Waiting for next week for another exciting episode of Bari Aapa.   Watch Today’s Episode of Bari Aapa   Haseeb Ahmed

one thing i don't understand is the hypocricy that why people are raising so much voice over zubaida being the dominant one in the relationship, if it was the other way round and nauman ejaz was the dominant(norm in our pak society) we wouldn't have much problem. i think a lot majority of husbands in our society are like zubaida, the dominant partners, and it goes nasl der nasl. if he is bringing juice for her or being worried about her health, there is nothing wrong in it. we(wives) do it all the time, in return we do not get the same and they (husband) start taking it as there right. To be clear I am not favouring any of her wrongdoings just discussing their relationship as husband and wife, and us women not liking the wife getting pampered so much and calling husband so many names in previous reviews.

    Nice Review

But Ghazanfar didn't ditch Zubaida. Infact they were engaged but Zubaida's parents .. in thr greed of Rich Man (Nauman Ijaz) .. broke this relation. & later on they linked up Firdaus & Ghazanfar.

  • Uneza

sawera`s acting is like she is actually the real bari aapa…the way she speaks bold n bluntly…is fab!!!

  • Hammu

Yes.Everything you said about this play is absolutely correct.I feel the same way about this drama. The characters are so perfect. They really look like siblings. What i liked was, that Zubaida isn't afraid of anyone.I mean the way she talked to Ghazanfar on the phone and then face to face,it felt like she does not cares about anyone else.Nice to see Nouman in a very different role.I have never liked him this much ! It is really nice that they don't show much in the previews ! I think it gives away all the plots.Anyway Ayesha will have a big role ahead and she is looking very beautiful in this particular drama ( You see i'm not a big fan of her ).I am expecting a lot from this play and i really believe it will live up to my expectations.

P.S : I would love to see more and more reviewers here :) You have done a brilliant job Haseeb ! I cannot even write more than a paragraph !
